This is natural, medium bluish purple Tanzanite. It is grade B and semi-opaque. It has minor inclusions and variations in opaqueness & transparency as well as in depth of color which, I believe, only add to their beauty. Each stone is individual but very similar in size, weight, and shape. There are five available stones, all are a little different from one anther.


Tanzanite is a rare and very costly stone, especially in larger sizes such as the stones I have available for this listing. They range from 8x10mm to 9x12mm, the larger stones used in the larger sized rings for uniform appearance. Perfect AAA grade stones this size are often valued at several thousand dollar$.


This particular ring photographed is a size 5. Any size desired can be made. If you are unsure of your ring size, have it measured for free at a jewelry store as this style of ring is not easily resized and would be costly to alter more than a 1/4 size.


Tanzanite is the one of the three traditional blue birthstones for December.


Tanzanite is rated 6 to 7 on the Mohs hardness scale. Unfortunately, this beautiful gemstone is also classified as fair/poor in toughness and durability. Therefore, care is needed while wearing Tanzanite. With proper respect for its fragileness, this magnificent gemstone will bring years of mesmerizing enjoyment. The care required is more than worth the bother as this is one gorgeous stone.

Tanzanite is a stone of transmutation, shifting from lilac-blue to sapphire blue and into deep blue-violet. Tanzanite is relatively rare and costly, occurring in only one place in the world, the Merelani Hills in Tanzania, East Africa. It was discovered in 1967 and is named for its country of origin. The mining area is a tiny seven square kilometers in size. Tanzanite is 1000 times rarer than diamonds. It is not especially good durable and should be worn with care.
