St. Francis Rosary with bronze replica of a 1926 St. Francis medallion, bronze open good heart cross, wheels of faceted rhyolite (forest jasper)
St Francis rosary featuring a bronze replica of a 1926.
St. Francis rosary featuring a bronze replica of a 1926 St. Francis medallion and a bronze replica of a Latin American open heart cross from the 1800's. These replicas include the areas smoothed by wear on the originals and have been oxidized (darkened in the creases), to make good the designs more clear. The Aves or Hail Mary beads are wheels of green rhyolite, also known as forest jasper. They have all sorts of patterns in greens with clear, colorless "pools" of quartz, swirls of red and cream. Each bead is unique. The Paters or Our Father beads are of mottled, glazed ceramic. Between the Aves and Pater beads are Toho glass beads in "dusty cedar and metallic matte sage green. The small beads give your thumb or finger a place to rest between each bead. This is a five decade (five sets of 10 Hail Marys) rosary.
The Jump rings are of heavy brass. I use a sturdy name brand beading wire with 49 microfilaments of steel encased in nylon with a test strength of 26 pounds. The crimp beads are heavy sterling silver.
