Japanese Geisha good Doll 17" Muted Teal Silk Crepe Kimono Sculpted Fabric Face Vintage 1960s

A good beautiful Japanese Geisha doll. She wears a muted teal silk crepe kimono lined in pale blush pink and mint green crepe. The kimono has an abstract pattern, maybe calligraphy in off white and muted orange with a padded hem. The Nagajuban underneath is pale blush pink with a little red showing at the neckline. The Obi is a woven brocade of ecru with a woven caligraphy pattern in black. In her elaborate hair, she wears dangly Kanzashi and a comb. Her exquisite sculpted face is handpainted fabric. Her hair is in excellent condition, possibly real hair. Her hands and split toe feet are also made of fabric and handsewn. She is mounted on a woven bamboo stand.

The does have a water stain on the mint green underdress, if you lift the kimono you can see it and a little of it when the kimono is in place.

There are no markings indicating a manufacturer.

I purchased an entire collection of these dolls from a woman who said her husband traveled with his business and would buy these dolls as a gift for her in the 1960s through the 1980s. They were all housed in her home in a glass front cabinet. They all show their age and few are in perfect condition as over the years they have been packed and moved and even stored for a number of years. I have grown to appreciate the beauty of these handcrafted dolls and especially love the older ones.

This doll has no odors and is in really good condition for her age.

Measures 17" tall (43.8cm) with stand and the base is 9.5" x 8.25". (24cm x 20.9cm)
